If ignorance confines the purpose In which we were designed
Than wisdom frees
Our destiny is the Divine destination That eternal vision sees
Insight discerns the spirit You have to be quite to hear it
HIS presence is the essence That reveals to us where the mission leads
I am positive I can pronounce Profound poems with proficiency
My prerogative is to push pass the surface To show you what your worth is
You were born with purpose In spite of how you might Perceive your deficiencies…
…HE is the ignition to your passion
And yes those pass demons will come back to attack, but you will now have the vision to look pass them – and grow
I know; you’re thinking to just embrace HIS love for freedom
Is a over simplification
That I’m not aware of the complication
Of your particular situation
And the past tragic devastation
And terrible victimization
That was perpetual The sexual abuse And horrible molestation
And I don’t know about your addictions
From your emotional afflictions And strife it felt like life has no use!
I don’t know about your convictions
From past mistakes You was displaced because of evictions So how dare I tell You that all your debts have been paid…
Rich and beautiful images capitalizing off the emotional connection our soul makes with the village. Potent and impoverished Polite and punishing Our people pressing back and forward towards a purpose predestined before the seed was materialized that pushes the ghetto rose through the cracks in the concrete. Love can be seen in this picture of us. This is us who came to this new world in chains dreaming of home forced to make peace with pain. This is us playing hop scotch ,jumping rope, and shooting hoop’s. This you praying that hope doesn’t dissipate and your dreams don’t disappear to the disappointments of what life is like growing up on this block. This is you. The village – Eric Haylock
I appropriately honor her essence
Her presence is heavy like a crown
She reflects Elohim
We esteem her message
Her magnificent beauty is profound
Her strength is majestic
Our eyes digest impressive curves that almost can’t be verbally expressed through sound
So we pay homage to your glory
Sing your story although we expound so poorly
Sometimes I feel like we let you down
I appreciate your patience
We deviate from the ancient peace
As royal priest I carry your grief
And vow that your feet never touch the ground
