“BANG,BANG,BANG…BANG,BANG,BANG
reload the gun
they gonna do the same thing” – James Portier
“…is it a ballet or a bullet let me know/ should I fight or should I pray who’s my foe/ are they killing with a pistol or a vote/ or …
MAYBE IT IS BOTH MAYBE IT IS BOTH MAYBE IT IS BOTH!” – Sho Baraka
I found the music expressed in the project “Louis Portier” to be uplifting, inspiring, and insightful, but most of all I found this sound to be REVOLUTIONARY!
This sound is a fearless and uncompromising truth in a time when Black people are awakening to their power and growing dissatisfied with the current climate of injustice and powerlessness. Sho Baraka is answering the questions many communities ask with wisdom that is grounded in the bible without the watering down many Christian artist inject into todays discussion about the Black family’s predicament. Sho Baraka attacks poverty, gentrification, school to prison pipeline, and systematic racism head on while always painting the solution with beautiful, eloquent verbiage and hopeful mentoring poetry. The answer to all of our social ills are always found in: CHRIST!

The very definition of Music Excellence is Sho Baraka
He doesn’t shy away from telling the truth with a powerful and refreshing intelligence that represents the masculinity of manhood and the servanthood of one who is Called Out by the Most High.
