July 4th never represented Independance for my ancestors.
I was made free by my KING Christ, but I most certainly wasn’t freed by this country in 1776.
We must tell our story to edify OUR victories and showcase OUR courage and breakthroughs. Independence day by no stretch of the imagination is a celebration of Black peoples INDEPENDENCE.
When we look back we must remember OUR history in this country.
We must give voice to our lives…our struggles…and our hardships.
Our freedom and independence will come in our uniting under the Most High God
